Introduction

Getting started with Artistu

This article takes you from a new account to your first booking. Follow the steps in order: each one builds on the one before.

Get set up on Home

Until your agency is set up, Home shows a Get set up checklist with steps 2 to 6. Each step is ticked off by itself as soon as you have done it, so you always see what is left.

When you sign up, Artistu asks for your business information and your legal entity: the name, address and tax details that appear on your invoices and agreements. You can skip this during sign-up and add it later.

Go to Settings > General and click Create legal entity. Add your logo there too, so it appears on your documents.

2. Add your first artist

Everything in Artistu hangs off an artist: bookings, agreements, invoices and the calendar. Go to Artists and create an artist with a name and the basics.

Two things are worth setting up per artist right away:

  • A deal template, so every new booking starts with the usual guarantee, booking fee and deal terms.
  • An invitation, so the artist sees their own shows in the Artistu app.

3. Create your first booking

A booking is the show record. It carries the deal, the agreement, the invoices and the advancing for one show.

Go to Calendar and click a day, or click Create > Create booking on Home. Pick the artist, give the booking a name and set the date. Then add the venue and the other performance details in the booking.

Read Creating a booking for the details, such as bookings that take place at night.

4. Add your companies and people

Promoters, venues and the people you work with live in Contacts: a company is the organisation, a person is someone who works there. On a booking you then give them a role, such as promoter, advancer or signatory.

Add them one by one, or use Import from CSV in Contacts to bring over an existing list in one go.

5. Set up an agreement template

With an agreement template, Artistu fills in an agreement from the booking, ready to send and sign online. Start with a shared template that every artist can use, and add an artist template only where an artist needs their own text.

6. Invite your team

Go to Settings > Team and roles and click Invite. Your colleagues get an email with a link to join. Each of them works in the same roster, with the role you give them.
